Crocodile Farm, Ciego de Avila, Cuba

This conservation/breeding farm is a tourist center located about 13 km east of the town of Moron, and about 45 minutes’ drive from Cayo Coco, see the interactive map at the bottom of the page. It belongs to the “Empresa Nacional de Protección y Conservación de la Flora y la Fauna » (National Society for the Protection and Conservation of Flora and Fauna). It’s dedicated to the breeding and development in captivity of the American Crocodile, they have more than 800 of them in their 65-hectare estate.

The place is regularly visited by national and international tourists. Visitors get the chance to learn more about those reptiles and to get close and personal with them. You can hold a baby crocodile in your arms, and even feed them. They also have on-site a ranchon-style restaurant where you can taste an exotic dish made with crocodile meat, and other culinary specialties.

Some organized tours offered in the all-inclusive resorts in the cayos include a visit to the Crocodile Farm in their program, see our Excursions section for more information. The people who don’t wish to join a tour, can easily include a stop at the Crocodile farm while visiting Moron and its surroundings. To visit the region by yourself, you need to rent a car (or a taxi) but not a scooter, it's forbidden to get outside the Cayos with a scooter. And don't forget that there's a toll of 2 USD to cross the pedralplen (causeway) which connects Cayo Coco with the main island of Cuba.

Prices and conditions are subject to change.
