Flora of the « Jardines del Rey »

Since our trip to Bali (Indonesia) in May 2005, I now dedicate a section to the fauna and flora of the countries, we have been fortunate to visit.

Upon reflection, this section is dedicated more to the flora than wildlife, because we have hardly seen any animals! The only creatures who have been encountered, at least on the site are a few small lizards and birds.

There is a diverse flora in Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo. This is what makes the charm of this region and throughout Cuba. Cubans are anxious to preserve the environment.

All the recent buildings in Cuba are located behind the dunes facing the sea Why? To keep the natural protection against hurricanes. To do this, they built several footbridges connecting the hotel to the beach. These are raised not to affect the local fauna and flora such as mangroves.

Note that there are no poisonous snakes, scorpions, tarantulas or other dangerous species to humans in Cuba. The only dangerous element when we walk in the dunes are the famous or those damned guisasos, small balls that stick to the sandals that make us sometimes crazy!
